Cake Mix Oreo Bars are super yum! Soft chocolate cake filled with a layer of cream cheese frosting.
We are huge oreo fans! Our kids adore them too. Licking that delicious creamy filling, brings back all kinds of sweet childhood memories.
Making them from scratch with baking mixes is a super fun alternative to the store bought ones. Most of time we use Secret Kiwi Kitchen Triple Fudge Brownie Mix to make brookies-- brownie cookies and then fill them with cream frosting.
But yesterday, on they fly-- we were invited to an impromptu barbeque and needed to come up with a fun dessert fast. So voilà, the cake mix oreo bar was born.
Cake mix desserts are fantastic! The sheet cakes were in the oven in 5 minutes and whilst they baked we whipped up the frosting! Make sure to use baking paper so the cake lifts out easily.
Once your cake is cool spreed some cream cheese frosting on it. We iced 1/2 a sheet cake and cut and placed the 1/2 gently on top so as not to risk breaking a larger whole cake. Cut into your desired size oreo bars. Small is good as these are quite rich. For fun, we added sprinkles!
Serve chilled so the icing doesn't ooze out. A huge party hit, these little beauties were devoured by kids and adults in about 10 seconds. Hope you enjoy them as much as we did!
