Ingredients
Wheat Flour, Sugar, Buttermilk Powder (Milk), Baking Powder (Raising Agents (450, 500)), Salt, Vanilla Bean.
Contains: Wheat, Milk
May contain: Egg, Soy
Directions - Makes 10 Scones
- Preheat oven to 220 °C (425 °F) or 200 °C (400 °F) fan-forced.
- In a bowl, add 75 g (½ cup) cold butter (cubed) and the contents of this pack. Rub butter into the mix lightly with your fingertips until crumbly.
- Add ¾ – 1 cup cold water and mix gently to a soft dough.
- For richer scones, add 1 egg (optional) and reduce water to ½ cup.
- On a floured surface, pat and shape dough to 2–2.5 cm thick and cut rounds with a 6 cm cutter (or shape free-form to keep rustic).
- Place on a lined tray, close together for soft sides or spaced apart for crisper edges.
- Bake 15–20 minutes until risen and golden. Makes 10 scones.
- Serve warm, plain or with your favourite toppings.
Optional Add-Ins
- Spices (cinnamon, nutmeg)
- Dried fruit (raisins, currants)
- Fresh or candied ginger
- Chocolate chips
Storage
Keep in an airtight container up to 2 days, or freeze up to 1 month. Defrost at room temperature or warm gently before serving.
