Upside-Down Chocolate Banana Skillet Cake

Nostalgic and a little bit special — chocolate cake over caramelised bananas, baked and flipped in a skillet.

You'll add

Butter, brown sugar, bananas & warm spices

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C. Prepare the chocolate cake mix, reducing the water to 3/4 cup.
  2. Melt butter in a cast-iron skillet and stir in brown sugar until caramelised, about 5 minutes.
  3. Arrange banana halves cut-side down over the caramel.
  4. Pour the cake batter evenly over the bananas.
  5. Bake 30–35 minutes until a skewer comes out mostly clean.
  6. Cool a little, then invert onto a plate. Serve with ice cream.
